GCAT Final in Remarkable Riyadh is Underway

The final stage of the Global Arabians Champions Tour series commenced in Saudi style in the capital, Riyadh, at the KAFD X. It was nothing short of spectacular, marking a milestone in the world of Arabian horse shows.

The venue was transformed into a breathtaking arena of lilac hues that perfectly captured the grandeur of the event. The atmosphere was electric as breeders and spectators filled the stands, eagerly awaiting the scores.

Qatar’s Al Thamer Stud took the first class of the day with Sultana Al Thamer, a bay yearling filly by Dominic M, who has taken championship titles at five of the GCAT stages in 2024. Sandi RS, a Saudi-bred filly secured a win in the Yearling Fillies 1B, marking her GCAT debut and securing a place in Saturday’s championships.

Afreen Al Shaqab once again took the top spot in the Yearling Colts 4A, whilst Dubai Stud’s D Borkan won Yearling Colts 4B, taking both through to the championships. Both colts have had an incredible season, with only five points separating the two at the top of the male rankings.

Ajmal Stud’s striking Shahbrys HVP trotted her way into another GCAT championship with handler Phillippe Hossay, by winning the 2-year-old Fillies section A. Returning to the ring after a long hiatus and taking the win in the 2-year-old Fillies section B was reigning World Champion Shahalel Al Shaqab, who was the highest scoring horse of day 1 with 93.50 points, with unanimous 20s across the board for Type and Head & Neck.

The show will commence today at 17:30 local time, with qualifying classes for the 2-year-old colts, 3-year-old fillies and colts, and the 4-6-year-old mares.
